COVID-19 brought an unprecedented change in our lives by putting us under “house arrest”, officially known as “lock down”. Our routine life came to a standstill as we just stared at the evolving pandemic wreaking havoc in the lives of people all over the world. As life was becoming more miserable and lackluster with every passing day, there was a small group of people at Pisharody Samajam working hard to activate us and lighten our “virtual’ lives.
Yes, I am talking about the team behind the Pisharody Samajam website! The team has carried out a challenging task of virtually uniting the Pisharody community members across the globe with great aplomb, by encouraging and motivating them in bringing out their hidden talents through the medium of the Samajam website and the response to it has been overwhelming, to say the least. The voice of the youth, “Yuvachaithanyam” was revived with more vigour and enthusiasm. The web platform provided our members of all age groups all over the globe, an online stage to showcase their vibrant talents ranging from music, dance, craft-work, drawing, poems to culinary skills that really took the website by storm! The mesmerising performances of the kids in the videos were also a delight to watch and showed that there is no dearth of talent in our community! During special occasions like International Mothers Day, there was fervent participation from the members and I had a memorable time browsing through the long array of elegant photos of the proud members with their loving mothers. The musings of the children about their mothers was really touching and brought out the greatness of motherhood. Every day I kept eagerly looking up my smartphone for some notification about an exciting performance or achievement or a sneak peek into the “Sharathe Adukala” for some mouth-watering recipes which even motivated my 75 year old uncle to include his recipe! Thus a dreary lock-down got transformed into an entertainment extravaganza, and now I really wish to be “locked down” in my home forever!
All this could not have happened but for the painstaking efforts of the members of the website team. I take this opportunity to convey my heartfelt regards to each of them who are our own “heroes” of the lock-down.
